1. Ride the MRT going to Taft Station. 2. From the Taft MRT station, get a bus/jeep going to Coastal Mall. 3. In Coastal Mall, get a bus going to Cavite. Tell the driver/conductor where you are going. 4. Before reaching the Toll Gate, go down the bus. 5. Follow the arrows/signs to the cleanup site, about 50 meters away.

INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP 2011 REMINDERS

FOR CLEANUP COORDINATOR OF EACH ORGANIZATION/ AGENCY/ CLUB/ SCHOOL: 1. Orient your contingent/s about the International Coastal Cleanup, the importance of data collection, how to fill-up data cards and how to make estimations (see downloadable slideshow presentations, Guide to Marine Debris, and Handbook for Coordinators at our website). 2. Remind volunteers on safety and dangers (i.e. sharp and pointed objects) 3. A Coordinator has to pre-register his/her respective group at https://sites.google.com/site/iccphilippines/sign-up-to-cleanup or you can send it by email. Submit also a copy at the registration area on ICC day. 4. Organize your contingents by dividing them into groups with 4-5 members for ease in collecting and recording. 5. Remind them on the proper attire (i.e. tee-shirts & pants, PE uniforms, or any uniformly colored tee-shirts to identify your contingents; rubber shoes or any closed shoes) 6. Marine and aquatic debris is among the world’s most pervasive pollution problem affecting our waters today. The litter may be as varied as the products available in the global marketplace, but all share a common origin. Somewhere, somehow, someone mishandled it – either deliberately or thoughtlessly. The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is a global volunteer-based initiative to reduce impacts of marine debris which contributes to climate change and biodiversity loss. Each year, volunteers have been mobilized to form a “litter army” to clean the waterways and collect information on the sources of debris for education or pollution prevention campaigns. To sustain this initiative, we are in need of volunteers to clean our waterways (esteros), shorelines, lakes, surface of adjacent seas and underwater areas. The 26th International Coastal Cleanup will be held simultaneously worldwide on the third Saturday, September 17, 2011. For this year, the Department of Tourism in celebration
